A baby's skin is much thinner and more sensitive than an adult's. That's why it needs gentle but consistent care.
How often to bathe
A daily bath isn't necessary in the first months — many paediatricians recommend bathing a few times a week and, on the other days, gently cleaning the face, the folds of the neck and the diaper area.
Bath time rules
- The water should be warm, not hot — check the temperature with your elbow or a thermometer
- Keep the bath short so the skin doesn't dry out
- Never leave your baby alone in the water, not even for a second
- Afterwards, gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing
Which product to choose
Choose a mild product made especially for babies. Den Höggen's shampoo and body wash with aloe vera is made with 92% ingredients of natural origin, contains no sulfates or ethanol, and is clinically tested for skin and eyes.
Skin under the diaper
Change diapers promptly, gently clean the skin each time and give it a few minutes of fresh air. If redness doesn't go away within a few days or gets worse, see your paediatrician.
